What Is Aikido?

For my first article what better place to start than with the question What is Aikido?

To my knowledge this question has never been answered by anyone who practices the art in these times precisely enough for me. So, I shall proceed to clarify and in so doing no doubt shake a few trees. Aikido is the source of All martial arts and as such is the the ultimate for in truth all martial arts have a urge, known or not, to return to source. Aikido is all about self development and thus is a path. The ‘Do’ in Aikido means path or way. In the east this means a spiritual path.

Aikido is a Martial Art.

Aikido consists of Budo, disciplined learning and practice.

The budo of Aikido is Love.

Aikido contains the path of peace and the path to enlightenment.

Aikido is a practice where everybody wins. Thus in Aikido there is no winning and losing for that is the way of ego, not source. The problem in the field of Aikido and for those who practice it is how to wrap their mind around all which I have said above. For instance, if you duplicate what I have said above and contemplate it you will see I am saying what you may consider some strange things. I am saying, even emphasizing, it is martial yet at the same time it is harmless. Yes, this is so.

The founder of the art and to this day the only one who truly grasped what it is explained he was in a continuous state of winning when practicing Aikido. How many understand that condition? It is a truly enlightened state of being number one. Secondly it means that the so called opponent is taken into that state too. As I said, it is the martial where everyone wins. THE ONLY MARTIAL as such.

This is freedom, true freedom.

So now I will Answer the question posed in the title.
AIKIDO IS THE MARTIAL ART OF TRUTH.
Thank you for listening.

Peace. G.
