What is a cycle? Think about this. Everything has a cycle. It’s Natural Law.
A day is a cycle. A year is a cycle. Every action you take is a cycle. In Aikido this is the truth of the circle. If you look at Mother Nature and let’s say a tree. It follows a yearly cycle. Notice that this yearly cycle has basically four stages. It goes through four separate conditions. Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. All part of One Cycle. So what is the Natural Cycle of Study? Do you even realize that Study is a Cycle?
Well, a cycle has a start point, a continuation and a completion. The continuation is made up of consecutive phases, conditions. So, what is the conclusion, end point, natural goal of study? Plus, on that journey, cycle, what are the conditions you pass through on that cycle? Without understanding this then you get lost and end up with various incorrect assumptions, beliefs, ideas and attitudes towards that thing called study. I will add here that you end up in delusion on the subject called study.
O.K. Let me tell you and show you the true cycle of study. The Cycle of Study Goes from Interest to Mastership. That is the complete cycle. The complete cycle has Eight Conditions, Eight Steps. So, simply put there are eight steps which make up the complete cycle of study.
EACH STEP, CONDITION, HAS A PURPOSE.
So, when you study something what is your purpose? Look at a few things you have studied or attempted to study and ask yourself what was your purpose with regards to each thing?
This has been an introduction to the subject of study. I have given you some concepts to digest and contemplate. To put some meat on these bones I will do that in part two.
There I will show what the whole cycle consists of. Meanwhile it’s good for you to just consider what those parts of the whole cycle MAY be.
