So a person is comfortable in their job or their position at level five. Well, the next step may feel uncomfortable so they may be quite happy staying level five. However, they might want to carry on on this cycle, in other words they may want to EXPAND.
This is entering level six, Expansion and Review. A tough step.
Level six includes: • Polishing the skills you already have, improving as a a continuous thing. • Looking for new learnings and achievements necessary to move forward. • New doors to find and open and enter.
New realities to learn, new communications to have, new abilities to gain.
Reviewing and polishing and aligning and realigning as you go.
EXPANSION contains these two factors: • INCREASED RESPONSIBILITY • SUPERVISORY ORGANIZATION
This could include Teaching or Supervising, some kind of overseeing responsibility. The question of how to expand is THE QUESTION to be answered. As we are talking THE TRUE CYCLE OF STUDY here then the following Golden Rule must be understood:
TRUE EXPANSION MUST BE BALANCED. TRUE EXPANSION IS BOTH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL.
From here on out through to mastership the above rule applies. This is THE MOUNTAIN.
To bring it into a simple perspective let me draw a little picture here. Bill is a car mechanic. He has been to college and is now out in the trade and has been working at a garage for a few years and is now comfortable in his position and job and competence.
Now, he starts feeling he wants to progress further ‘up the ladder’. He has a go to, his immediate supervisor or senior mechanic. This guy always helps him when he is stuck. He observes him and notices there are many actions and responsibilities that guy has and wonders if he could reach that level. So one day he sits down with him for a talk and finds what he has to do and accomplish in order to reach that position.
As they say in the series ‘Mandalorian’---“THIS IS THE WAY.” Ha, ha.
